Namibia hat heute 22 neue Fälle von COVID19 zu verzeichnen. Davon sind 16 in Walvis Bay, fünf in Swakopmund einer in Windhoek. Letzterer war von Walvis Bay in Zentralkrankenhaus in Windhoek verlegt worden. Drei Personen sind verstorben, sämtlich in der Hafenstadt. Sie waren im dortigen Staatskrankenhaus bzw. im Welwitschia-Privatkrankenhaus in Behandlung. Mit 15 wurde in neuer Rekord an geheilten Corona-Personen verzeichnet. Es handelt sich um Fallnummern zwischen 540 und 590. – Insgesamt wurden 18.454 Tests ausgewertet. Es gibt aktuell 1302 bekannte aktive Fälle im Land.
Die Oppositionspartei Popular Democratic Movement PDM ermöglicht allen seinen Mitgliedern sich für die Regional- und Kommunalwahlen im November aufzustellen. Jeder Kandidat erhalte die Möglichkeit sich der Öffentlichkeit bei lokalen Treffen zu präsentieren, heißt es von der Parteiführung der PDM. Die besten Kandidaten werden nach standardisierten Vorgaben ausgesucht und der nationalen Parteispitze präsentiert. Diese habe schlussendlich die letzte Stimme. Man erhoffe sich so einen möglichst demokratischen Prozess und die Einbindung aller Mitglieder.
Gegen die Zivilluftfahrtbehörde NCAA sind Ermittlungen wegen schlechter Unternehmensführung eingeleitet worden. Hierzu habe Verkehrsminister John Mutorwa aufgerufen. Man gehe damit Anschuldigungen der stellvertretenden Rechtsexpertin der NCAA, Natalia Isak, nach. Ihren Informationen nach seien die Bezahlungen bei der NCAA inkonsistent, bei Neuanstellungen werde nicht den staatlichen Vorgaben entsprochen und die NCAA werde unprofessionell geführt. Isak sei vor einigen Tagen aufgrund ihrer Anschuldigungen freigestellt worden. Mutorwa hat nun die umgehende Rücknahme der Suspendierung gefordert.
